We visited the Grandmaster’s Palace from the inside too, to get better images and inspirational material for some of the concept art. During the same day that we visited the Palace, I was part of one of the groups that had to measure the Palace façade to help the concept and 3D artists make more accurate designs on the first try. Our group decided to take the measuring of the Grandmaster’s Palace twice to get more accurate measurements. Unfortunately none of the measurements matched with the others group measurements, so we took the average of the measurements for that time being. We had huge amount of differences in the measurements, some of them were almost gone far by a 40cm gap (right door of the façade). On that same day some students together with Mr. Paul Camilleri took some photos of the Grandmaster’s Palace façade.
Afterlight media was recruited by GLOW events in 2012 to create a 3D architectural projection mapping during one of their events. This projection mapping was shown on DELA building and it is now on a permanent exhibition. The aim of this projection mapping was to bring the building/give the building a life. The storyline of this particular projection mapping was meant to "take" the viewer on a three-dimensional journey and quest for identity. The misleading sounds during this projection mapping helped the optical illusion stand out. Afterlight used various minimalistic optical illusions and added deceptive sounds to create deep confusion into the human brain. Afterlight has used the formal aspects of the building by slowly changing it into organic patterns and by losing its symmetrical features.
