Artifex Logo design: sketching
The Artifex brand was chosen collectively by the whole group and was suggested by Andrew Carter. Artifex literally means arts, crafts, and trade. The reason why this name was chosen was because it sums up what the whole exhibition is about in just one word.
Artifex logo design: digitizing the logo
After the proposal of several logos (seen above) to the rest of the group, most of the designed logos were scrapped while others were re-adjusted as seen below.
The above logos were then re-discussed, and it was decided that the final logo would be the one in the below images. The small triangle next to the letter 'x' represent the geometrical shapes this brand is built around, which is also used in the implementation of the wayfinding system which was proposed.
Wayfinding System
Andrew Carter, Nicholas Cassar and myself were responsible for the implementation of the wayfinding system of the exhibition. In the division of work, it was decided that Andrew was responsible of the design of the icons of the different types of courses at the institute. I was responsible for the design of the wayfinding brochure, which was proposed to be handed to visitors on the opening night and during the rest of the exhibition. The three of us were responsible to come up with an appropriate colour scheme for the different courses available at the institute.
Directional signs were also designed by myself for the wayfinding concept, as seen below. The negative space in the icons represents the direction of the location it is pointing to.
Promotion
Adverts' main elements, such as background textures and features were designed by Andrew Carter, while I designed the template for other posters which may be designed for the promotion of different types of courses. The aim of these adverts was to promote the respective subject using a medium which is used in its field, such as paint used in fine arts etc.
Several student tags were also designed by myself. All the possibilities were designed and presented to the rest of the group to decide which one looked best aesthetically (see image below gallery).
Artifex exhibition concept & exhibition space presentation
Andrew Carter, Max Saliba and myself worked on the layout of the Artifex exhibition concept presentation, while Max Saliba and myself worked on the exhibition spaces presentation. Presentation slides can be found in group tab "Zaqqocc".
