Work Done
During the course of our projection mapping we had to choose one or two departments where we had to work. Personally I chose animation and production. During the process I also had some more work to do since in an assignment such as this problems arise and solutions have to be made. Apart from problems there were also some tasks that were not foreseen in the beginning.
Production
In the production department we had decided some standards such as naming systems of files and how our online drive should be split up. Apart from this we had also decided on how we were going to split the roles of animators, 3D artists, concept artists and animators.
Animation
Animation was also split into three scenes as this would ease workload and focus would be on just one scene per person or two. For scene one I was handed the task of animating the V.18 foundation logo and also the destruction of the facade. The animatic for the logo was done beforehand so what I had to do was to re do the animation and amend some minor issues and tweak it a bit. This was done in no time but the shatter effect for the facade took a little bit longer. This was because the settings had to be tweaked and re tweaked since a realistic effect was needed. A lot of time was spent doing this animation and finally it was done with all the particles and smoke effects were in the scene. Apart from the smoke effects and shattering a strobe light was needed to give the scene better depth and a better sense of war time. Below you can see the final piece of the animation for both the cross and the shatter effect.
Making of
Apart from animation and production I also enlisted myself in being part of the team that created the making of. This was a two part team one part consisted in shooting footage and screen captures and the other part making a booklet to show the design process and how we worked. The shooting of the footage meant that a great amount of the time we had to be in the way and nagging people but that is just part of the job. Even during the opening night we had to stay filming the crowd and parts of the animation instead of watching our own work projected. Another task apart from filming is editing which will take part during progress week or the weeks after since the heavy workload we have from other assignments but we would like to have a final video of about five minutes or so
