Task 1
In this photo we can see an exhibition space found San Jose State University for the BFA Graphic Design Exhibition 2012. A lot of space can be seen in this image, which is important so every piece of work can be viewed with appropriate time. I chose this exhibition space specifically because of the artworks which are in a triangular form. On every side of the triangle there is an artwork. It is also interactive as the triangle can be turned to view the other two sides. This can easily be done for our final exhibition. The reason is because apart from being interactive, the idea can help in creating space. Instead of having for example 90 artworks throughout all the walls, you have 3 artworks on every side of these triangles which reduces the amount of space used.
This is another example of a graphic design exhibition space. Here one can notice the amount of space created with this idea. Another important point is the use of the floor to show the artworks. There are no artworks hanged on the wall, which is helping in creating a lot of space in the room. As I said for the other photo, the use of space in this sort of exhibition will give time to the viewer to admire the artwork of every artist. I think that eventually this idea can’t be used in for our exhibition space as there are many students who are going to exhibit their work, so it wouldn’t be possible to leave a certain amount of space empty.
This image shows the Graphic Design Foundation UCA Epsom exhibition. The artworks and portfolios of the artist are hanged to the ceiling. It is quite an original and different idea how the work was exhibited. I think that it’s quite interactive, as those who visit this exhibition has the chance to look closer at the work. It might be a good idea for our exhibition, but as I said before a lot of students are going to exhibit their work, so there isn’t enough space to execute this idea. Although the idea is cool and original it can be a little bit too much, as you don’t have the chance to look at all the artworks. Using this idea may hide some great artworks by other pieces of lower level of work. Considering that the work exhibited is of different students, I think that everyone wants his work to be shown, so this idea can create a problem.

Start up festival | Basilica Palladiana Vicenza
3D projection mapping
This projection for the Start up Festival and it was projected on the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza. There is a mixture of 2D and 3D design in this projection. Part of the show was a synchronisation of music with light. One can also see that a live performance by a maestro was involved in the projection. I also like the fact that this was a projection on a historical building and also part of a disco party in sync with a famous DJ who was playing live music.
Rudy Bertazzo created the Mapping for this projection, while Andrea Comparin composed the music. Bertazzo made use of lots of colours and patterns.
The building was constructed by different depths and light. I noticed that no texture was used. Then a ribbon appeared going around the doors and windows of this historical building. I think that this idea can be used especially when the building you are working on has a lot of windows.
When you are creating a projection mapping, I think it is important to create some architectural projection. It is something that the viewer always wants to see during a projection mapping. 3D design helps you persuade those watching the projection that the building is really cracking. Another important feature during a projection mapping is the sound effects which helps the scene to look even more realistic.

Alternative to Projection Mapping
A light show combined with some fireworks can be a good alternative for projection mapping. My idea will also involve the building, as light can also be projected. Although light is being projected, it isn't 3D architectural projection mapping. The atmosphere that light creates is different from projection mapping, but it’s cool and very effective. Neon lights can also be used part of this show. A choreographic dance with music can be produced. The dancers will be painted with neon colours and when neon lightning is on, there will be a unique effect.
This idea is similar to the Start up Festival Projection Mapping I mentioned before.

Using moving heads, LED's, Colour filters and other lighting. It can also be projected on the building.
