Research & Analyze 1 projection mapping exampleNight Lights
Night lights is a projection mapping, and an installation. It was created by YesYesNo, teamed with The Church, Inside Out productions and Electric canvas. They projected on the Auckland Ferry building, and brought it into an interactive playground. Their goal was to create a nice installation, where the audience will become the performers themselves. There were 6 scenes, repeated every hour for the public audience. The projection mapping is colourful, and make use of bright and attractive colours, to attract the audience more. It is created by simple shapes, and different forms of trees, butterflies and attractive simple graphics which are synchronised with music, and different sound effects, which complements the graphics seen. The visitors can interact and be a part of this projection mapping. In this projection, there are three different types of interaction. The first interaction is body interaction on two stages, where one can step on a white platform, and moves in front of small cameras, and then a silhouette of those people will appear projected on the facade of the building, during the projection mapping, and hence the audience will be a part from the projection mapping itself. Another interaction was phone interaction, where the audience could interact with the projection by the tracking of waving phones. Also, hand interaction above a light table was another interaction with this projection, by the audience placing their hands on a white table and move, and the design moves accordingly to the touch of their hands, and also their hands' outline will appear on the building. This obviously attracts people more than just a normal projection mapping, since they would like to try it, and take part, especially when it comes to children. This is a really nice projection mapping, which is also interactive. My Opinion
It would be a great idea if we implement something similar to this into our projection mapping, since in my opinion this is more fun from other projection mappings, since people can interact with it, and hence it will be more eye catchy. Also people will remember the projection more, since they had more involvement and hence their experience during it would be nicer, and more interesting. I really liked this projection mapping, it was simple, but eye catchy and people enjoyed it. I would be more interesting to take a part in something, then just staying there like watching a five minute movie.
