Final Decision of Book documentation
During this task I chose to be in the team called 'Documentation' with Chiara and Denise. I recorded the process from beginning to end threw the means of photography and videos. The initial logo idea chosen is called 'From paper to screen and everything in between', meaning that all ideas start on paper and work there way onto several material such as wood, metal, digital (on screen) and the list goes on.
This is the team of contraction discussing what can be done in the two rooms provided to us. On this same day I captured some pictures of meetings done in class from other departments such as projection mapping and advertising and print.
Lets start selling goods.!!
At 8 am people from our class started preparing for the bake sale as we all gave a helping hand in order to have a successful outcome. The management team found our main sponsors from Smart super market and Twistees, which where willing to help out in our campaign for our exhibition.
As a team of documentation we recorded from beginning till the end of this event. Although I had taken a few videos Denise and I mainly took pictures and and Chiara took the rest of the filming, as her camera has a much better resolution then hours

School construction (Work In Progress)
I went round the school to see the work in progress of other classes. I also took Videos of the work that where then manipulated with premier pro by Denise.
Another progressive week for the 2014 exhibition Art and Design MCAST
During this week all the school was on fast mode towards finishing there classes and exhibiting there work. I went round the whole school to take pictures of the process.
BBQ 2014 Exhibition Fund Rasing
During this day I had helped out in this event by taking orders, delivery when necessary and giving the order out when ready. It was though work, but at the end it was quite a unique experience as we worked as a team in order to gather around 280 euros.
A helping hand in the animatic Projection
The folders given to me to do the animatic where individually layered in Photoshop by Silvio. He had given me the first part of the animatic and the rest had to be done by Kurt. I finished the first part of the animatic within a day and waited for Kurt to be done with the rest. He had managed to do some of it but was a great amount left to be done.
The illustration files he had given me where made on Illustratour, and had to arrange the files so that they would be animates separately, as instructed. Before I started the rest of the animatic I was then informed that I should stop everything as they did not need it any more. This reason was because there was too much to be done in a short period of time. Therefore I then tried to help Christine with the fashion projection. Although there was not much I could have done at that moment I gave some suggestions regarding the visual aspect of the projection.

The last week of Late Nights before the final day.
In this last week we managed to help each other towards ending this years exhibition. Therefore I helped the printing team with their books and went round asking for help from Mr Toma regarding the computer login and passwords exhibited in our rooms.
My Part of the book documentation
Promotion and printing was the section I chose to edit in the book documentation. Meanwhile the rest of the team had different departments to edit. For our main starting page between each department we came up with several ideas and through the experimentation of photography.
Besides the book documentation we also made various videos to promote the class as a team and also the school. Everyday I when to school to document other peoples work and what they are doing this not any included photography but I had also taken videos. Denise was the one who edited these videos and Chiara helped with the ideas for these videos.

The Final Day
This was a very successful light and we all ended up with BIG smiles on our faces. It was a great experience working with two of my good friends Denise and Chiara, as we understood each others ideas and motives throughout this whole project. And a very big well done to all the class who helped out all through this years successful and outstanding exhibition.
Task 2 Exhibition Space Molecule
Lindsey and I also managed to assemble how many people need to be divided whiten the groups and how long will it take to do so.

Room Inspirations
My logo inspiration version
This logo was produced by inspirations I found during my research. as the main focus was to base our idea on plexus I focused on the art work that would help us produce a final outcome.
We all had to do this task and mine was not chosen but 3 where. Therefore made a compensation that all 3 will be featured in our logo as they where all significant to what we wanted to portray.

Illustrational Consepts
This was my very first attempt of a logo. As we where not sure on what we where going to name the exhibition I had to invent a name and course to portray my vision of a sub logo.

Room Measurements
These are my illustrated CAD drawings with measurements of the class rooms that are assigned to us for our exhibition, 3D studio and studio 4.
Corridor
The images shown above, is the corridor we're assigned to use as part of our exhibition.
There are four doors on one side and five on the other, in total leading us to nine doors. Four doors are going to be ours, depending if we use all four since we don't know the consent of our exhibition. As the winning consent might decide to use only two doors.
If I counted correctly the wall colours used in this corridor are four different shades of purple. I personally don't mind the idea of keeping the walls coloured. The reason is because the corridors have a themed sequence and it wont be right to demolish the work done. An alternate we can use for cover up is by using soft materials such at cotton sheets to cover up the walls. This is because I had imagined the corridor to be an interactive projection all thought.
Below is an illustration of the plan I had in mind for the corridor.

Studio 4
Studio 4 is a large room containing 3 windows and two doors. Since the opening of the exhibition is at night the windows what be of use during the day. They will however be of use during the visitation of early hours. In the middle of the room one can see the flat screen T.V that will be to good use during the exhibition, for promotion, small clips of advertising and so on.
I had imagined this room to be transformed to a totally different perspective. the floor would be elevated one foot higher using a platform in the whole room (or a path way also using a platform) and underneath will be projectors. They will project patters on the ceiling that will be covered in white material in an unusual manner. An Idea comes to mind as to using our then finalized logo as our pattern.

3D B.A Studio
This room is identical to the room opposite, which is studio 4, as it also has 2 doors but the only difference is that the there is one more window in this room. The extra one is found near the flat screen T.V, in which can it can also be used for a project thesis or advertising our work done as a group together this year. the room is plane white thus giving us the advantage to manipulate the room the way we want.
Bellow I illustrated a concept of what this room may contain. That is mostly our thesis final product.

Task 1 Exhibition Spaces Inspirations
Coil, 2014
Coil, 2014 from Daniel Canogar on Vimeo.
Such an exhibition can be implemented in the rooms given to us. Although it is quite a large structure we would need to consider a similar inspiration to our exhibition. It also has elements of a graphic exhibition and the use of empty space within the room helps one considerate on one item at a time. Every wall has an individual art piece giving attention to each one. Although the main attraction is the coil the exhibition is divide accordingly to ones attention. It also gives an effect to the two plain walls at the side of the coil.
NODE13 – Forum for Digital Arts
This is an exhibition done every year in a school of Digital Arts in Germany. This school has a lot of big rooms and corridors including a big budget limit. Therefore as our school can afford the space not even the budget we will have to take other alternatives.
This does not mean that we can not inspire ourselves with the work they have made through the years. Below is a video of the process taken to do such work. They took a minimal approach in each room in which I would like to work on for our final exhibition of 2014

Gimme More
Exhibition identity at Eyebeam by Pentagram
"Pentagram’s Natasha Jen designed the identity and environmental graphics for the exhibition Gimme More: Is Augmented Reality the Next Medium?, recently on view at Eyebeam Art+Technology Center in New York. Originally developed by the EPFL+ECAL Lab at the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland, the exhibition showcased seven installations by artists who use augmented reality (AR) to tell stories in new ways. Previous incarnations of the exhibition have been shown in London, Milan, Paris and San Francisco; the New York version was designed in collaboration with SOFTlab and Futureflair, and featured several new works.
Augmented reality is reality with something extra—objects, environments or interactions that have been enhanced with virtual content or storytelling that blurs the line of the physical and digital. Jen’s graphic design for Gimme More plays on this intersection of the material and immaterial, using simple elements of light and shape to create an otherworldly effect that helps introduce visitors to the subject and sets off SOFTlab’s innovative exhibition design."
The paragraphs above describes how and where the exhibition was exhibited, including the idea behind it. An idea we can use that this exhibition has mentioned they have done is using augmented reality all thought the exhibition.
Since as a group we had agreed on an interactive exhibition, we might consider an augmented reality aspect through the school building.
Besides all that, I also liked the triangular elements all through the exhibition and due to the large space, Natasha Jen structured the area intelligently. Especially the hanging structural printouts.
The word 'Gimme More' shown in the video posted above is also used as part of the augmented reality in the exhibition. The triangular shapes also flicker keeping the same word, that also could be part of our exhibition attraction, used as through the projection outside the school building or inside one of the class room.

Parametic Space by Zaha Hadid Architects
"Zaha Hadid collaborated with Danish design office Kollision, research studio CAVI and motion designers Wahlberg to create the Parametric Space installation, which forms part of the architect's solo exhibition at the Danish Architecture Centre in Copenhagen."
This exhibition had artistic free standing structures, art work on the walls and also an interactive room as the main attraction. As soon as the visitors enter the dark room the ceiling illuminates. As one gets close to the center the four funnels start stretching down to the ground and as one moves back the funnels stretch back up. These four funnels emit light which includes a built in motion sensor found beneath the membrane. During my research in past exhibitions in MCAST, there was one covered in plastic. This was exhibited 3 years ago when the exhibition was called 'Flavorless'. The comparison I see between these two exhibitions is that they used their impregnation of the room in their favor to transform it beyond recognizable. I would like to take this idea to use when we will team up and decide on the rooms layout. As this exhibition inspired me to do something similar to what this example has shown us. The rooms given to us are approximately as large as this exhibition. therefore if we all work together as a team we will be able to do such an abstract interactive exhibition. |
Projection Inspirations
Stairs Projection Mapping
STAIRS projection mapping from sinicatv on Vimeo.
This video also shows interaction.. not only with the people using the stairs but the most exiting part is that it interacts with the models cumming down the stairs. As stairs are divided into three sections and each section has a motion sensor found in the start of the staircase and finishes
I was thinking that this years projection mapping could be a little different the the usual story telling. My idea was to collaborate the fashion show with the projection and at the end of the show, they form abstract patterns and turns into a large interactive projection on the building.

Onion Skin
Onion Skin, an installation by Olivier Ratsi [Antivj / Fr]
Concept & visual content: Olivier Ratsi
Music: Thomas Vaquié
Onion Skin is a new immersive installation by Olivier Ratsi, an artist on the ANTIVJ visual label.
The first stage in the Echolyse project, which will give birth to several variations around the same concept, Onion Skin is made up of a physical dimension – a module of two walls, positioned at right angles – augmented by a projection and a 5.1 sound broadcast.
Onion Skin is a graphical work about the re-composition of time and space through a game of perspectives, both of the exhibition space itself and that of the projection canvas. Built around a progressive structure, made up of 4 parts lasting 14 minutes in total, the piece plays on the principle of repetition and scale to create a physical and hypnotic experience that opens doors onto the hidden and untouchable.
The whole experience of the installation is based on a very specific point of view. A precise position from which a new dimension is revealed to the audience by anamorphosis. The simple geometric elements (“peelings”) that seemed to be flat at first suddenly start delimiting a new space. The illusion of a new dimension within the installation slowly appears as the onion skins seem to be leaving their physical surface behind.
A 5.1 surround sound set-up accentuates the physical dimension of the installation, strengthening and playing with the impression of volume and space.
