The Starting Point - PANIC!
On Monday 21st June 2014, Mr. Camilleri had asked for my assistance with George and Andrew regarding the Voices Projection Mapping. At first, I thought it was an After Effects matter or something simple, however, I found out that they weren't going to manage to do the third and final projection mapping due to time constraints. Thus, I was tasked to do this project in a week. At the time, Lara was at school and I informed her to take some of my workload of Management and she also offered to help me with the projection mapping. In fact, she had done the visuals of the drums, guitar, speakers, typography scene and animated the speakers, sound-waves and typography scenes.
Christine Borg also gave a hand in compositing the final scene of the silhouettes 'rocking it' on the tower as I was completely exhausted after a weekend of working and trying to make the deadline (more about this in the 'Evaluation' section of my Weebly Documentation.

The Mid Point - Process
After being tasked with this, I had to quickly brainstorm some quick ideas for the projection mapping and wrote a quick storyboard with the timings as one can see below. The main ideas were the silhouettes, drums, speakers, and optical flares and timed them out accordingly.
The optical flares & drums were the most tedious things of the whole animating process as they had to be perfectly in sync with the song which was highly time consuming. After a three days however, these were ready and then I proceeded with the silhouettes, while Lara was working on the speakers, sound-waves and typography scene. At first, I had tested it out with Lorraine in front of the white paper roll that there was in the Photography studio, as so to avoid in renting the equipment from the school.
Unfortunately, when imported in After Effects and applied the necessary effects, the result was quite disastrous and it wouldn't have had the effect desired. Thus, I rented the portable green screen, a camera and a tripod from school and filmed what was needed.

Once the filming was done, I imported the videos into After Effects, applied a mask, Keylights, Choke and a white solid to see the final result. I then placed all the silhouettes onto the facade for the appropriate positioning so as not to place them on the windows. There are some photos of the end result below as well.

The End Point - Final Animation & Video
Below are two videos, one of them is the animation rendered out while the other one is a video of the whole show that I took on the night. It was really great to see it on the Institute's facade. Although it was a major intensive week to finish this projection mapping, the result was really great!
