For the Manifesto I was working with Lindsay, Jacqueline and Christine. We decided to produce four typographic posters made out of a collage. We want to show that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. The upper Image shows the Quote I chose.
The steps for design methods are; Divergence, Transformation, Convergence, Sustainability and Articulation.
Divergence – Groups of people can branch out the ideas of a project using qualitative and quantitative research methods. By researching others work one can combine one idea with another and finally come out with another original idea of his own. S.C.A.M.P.E.R or Six Thinking Hats System are types of techniques that can be used for research. Brainstorming will help a lot in this stage as the group members will jot down their ideas spontaneously. [http://instructionaldesignfusions.wordpress.com/2010/10/23/strategies-and-tools-for-divergent-thinking/] Transformation – This is when you have an idea and then you work on it to develop a better one. It is the need in humans to seek and create a more desirable change in the design of something that has already been created before by others, and hence come out with something more complex and progressive. Design transformation in projection mapping in a skill that is used so that by this transformation, traditional methods are exceeded to obtain a better result. A challenge in design transformation when working in a group, is that all the members have to agree on the final product. Convergence – Convergence in design is when you combine the ideas that the group come up with, to create a final product. The challenge of convergence is that the designer has to mix his ideas with those of others to make way in designing in a new way. If all the group grasp a vision a design management, then obstacles with traditional designs are overcome, and a new, more effective product is versioned and emerged. Sustainability – When you make a continues effort to improve on a designed product, this product keeps its sustainability. A steady force to protect what was achieves and a positive outcome for the future, makes projection mapping design range from a small concept to something successful for everyone involved in the project. Social principals are based on the economical and ecological aspects of the project and this can be a perfect example of sustainable design. Articulation - This is the process when you connect the ideas that have been developed and express them as a new concept. With the articulation in design, there will be communication between the designers and those who are discerned about the design. This articulation is carried out in such a way that it allows the possibility of variety in the product when it is finished. . I had several ideas for this manifesto. The first idea that I had was to create a spider web made of rope and then stick notes/quotes to it. Another idea I had was to build blocks. I continued with an idea of taking photos of ourselves and edit them in a Polaroid way and write quotes underneath. The final idea was to make posters in different colors. This idea was liked by the rest of the group, so we expanded on it and we created a collage on colored cardboard.
For the projection mapping I worked mostly on the Credits. Here I began to converge the ideas by using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop. For this I have worked with Fabian Meli and Shirley Mallia. Together we planned how the animations were going to look like. Both Fabian and Shirley worked on the illustrations and then I animated them. In all, there was seven scenes; Concept Artists, 3D Modelling Animation, 2D Animators, Lights, Production, Tutors, Organisers and Sponsors. I had to do all the animation in two days, from when the illustrations were given to me, because we were getting close to the deadline. The inspiration for the projection credits came from the credits of the film 'Tangled'. Both the illustrations and the animation was inspirational from these credits. This is one of the ideas I has for the projection. Maltese dancers wearing the Maltese Traditional costume.
