The turn out of people was amazing. and at the end there where positive compliments trough. During the projection I noticed that my name was not written in the credits and so I asked the person in charge in which he had found out that I was not written in the credit list. There and then we changed the credits and gave it to the people managing the projectors.
Two days before the projection we had our first testing and I attended to view the final work on our large canvas. We accoutered a problem due to the projectors. As the projection has be cut 2 feet from the bottom and 1 feet from the top all in all 3 feet, from the original size. At the time the technicians tried to minimize the imaginary so that all parts of the animation will show. We spoke to Mr. Camilleri when we released that the projection cant be featured in that manner and he came up with a solution to re render the animation that will seem seamlessly cut. For more information one needs to speak to Mr. Camilleri.
The 2D animation is done, and since I had to animate the machine in grey scale The concept artist and I transferred all the layers in the coloured version. We had a difficulty in matching the names together, therefore there where several files missing in the Main Composition. We tackled the situation by reanimating the features that where missing. And so slowly but surly we ended up with the same result as before.
The start of the Machine and its animation. The Gears where rotated by a short cut found in a tutorial. Which is Time[*80} . the number is directed in a clockwise motion and can changed adoringly. If one needed the rotation in an anticlockwise motion the Code would be Time[*-80]. This also loops-out so that it will continually repeat the same motion. The toys have been masked in when they reach the end of the frame. A mask was also used for the presents. The difference was that the presents had to be masked out. For movement the present was scaled larger and simultaneously Positioned in place. It scaled up at the same rime with the lift and covered by a layer covering the outer sides of the window. In these two images I used one action and used a loop out code to continually repeat the same motion. This was a deleted part that took me a long time to realised what I had to do. with the help of a class mate of mine I managed to make the small gears ling to each other and rotational simultaneously. I downloaded a plug in called Expression rotation. boneracine = "big_ARM"; bonebout = "big_ARM_"; zero = "IK_zero big_ARM_"; controleur = "C_big_ARM_"; if (thisComp.layer(controleur).effect("IK Orientationbig_ARM")(1) == 1) {cw = true}else{cw=false} function getWorldPos(theLayerName){ L = thisComp.layer(theLayerName); return L.toWorld(L.anchorPoint); } function oriente(a, b, P) { return ((b[0]-a[0])*(P[1]-a[1]) - (P[0]-a[0])*(b[1]-a[1]) ); } A = getWorldPos(boneracine); B = getWorldPos(bonebout); C = getWorldPos(zero); E = getWorldPos(controleur); a = length(B,C); b = length(E,A); c = length(A,B); x = (b*b + c*c - a*a )/(2*b); alpha = Math.acos(clamp(x/c,-1,1)); y = b - x; gamma = Math.acos(clamp(y/a,-1,1)); result = (cw ? 1 : -1)*radiansToDegrees(gamma + alpha); V1 = B - A; adj1 = radiansToDegrees(Math.atan2(V1[1],V1[0])); V2 = C - B; adj2 = radiansToDegrees(Math.atan2(V2[1],V2[0])); result + adj1 - adj2 + value; The objects animated in the picture above and the four (4) below are all animated frame by frame to how I want the object to animate. I then used the Loop-Out Cycle effect to continue with the given animation. Finally I rendered the animation the compositions and waited to see the final result and waited until the colours where ready by the concept artist to be placed incited of the grey scale machinery.
I animated the Santa's Factory Machinery In which it had taken me two weeks to produce. The reason it took me that long to animate was because I got to know that I was assigned to take on this part of the project two days before as it was not yet ready to be animated since it had a lot of detail. Therefore the research I had planed on doing before hand was not yet ready. I had found out how to time loop the gears using [time *80] Clockwise (depending on how many times one wants the gear to rotate per second.) If one needed the gear rotating Anticlockwise then a (-) sign after the number would do the trick. I also found out how to 'Loop Out' and objects actions including plugins useful for the animation. As there was a lot of details in the machine some animations had to be done manually frame by frame. An example was the flicking lights in the Gate and the red arrows inside the machine. Although it was a challenge getting the gears to synchronise together I am very happy with my final outcome.
Meetings took place during the process of scene 3. We established who does what between the concept artists department including the 2D department.
