We did an animatic to illustrate how it would look. I had the part from the beginning to the part where the map of Valletta is shown in the cracks.
For our story line we decided to go from past to present, black and white to colour, and start from war to peace. We would start with the second world war. When a bomb would hit the facade of the palace and the cracks form an outline of Valletta from a birds eye view. This would then crack completely and fall towards the audience, for a 3D effect. Then stone from the building would seem to fall and while falling building a new architecture within the crack
itself. We decided to use architecture found in Valletta as to promote the city for V.18. The last architecture would be the Tritoni fountain, when a video of a child playing with marbles will be used. The marble would be thrown to the audience, then sucked back into a tunnel. The tunnel would then start to change colours according to colours which were used on TV in the different time periods. The marble will then transform into a seed and fall in the garden of the Grandmaster’s Palace. This will then turn into a vetches (Gulbiena). The sprouts will then turn into neon lights. These will highlight the architecture itself and inside the windows famous monument of Malta will be shown. Then the neons vanish into fireworks. The fireworks will form a Christmas tree. A ribbon will wrap in and out of the windows and around the Christmas tree. On the ribbon will be written Happy Christmas and Happy New year. Bobbles will then appear on the Christmas tree and disappear with big pop during the countdown. The above video was used for research on how projection mapping can be used to make you think that it is altering the shape of what it is being projected on. It is also used as light show combined with music, making it very interesting to look at. It also can be used to change the backdrop according to what each topic is which makes it more interactive. This video was used as research for how a projection mapping can be used on architecture. It also shows how simple lines and shapes can make a projection look good if they are used in the right way. The above video was used for research on how projection mapping can be used interactively and how people can actually interact with what is going on in the projection. This will interest the audience more as it would seem that the
person interacting with the projection has the power to change what will happen next in the projection. |
Rebecca BarryI am a BA student studying Graphic Design and Interactive Media, here is what I was working on in the Projection Mapping we had to do for V.18. I was working on concept art and animation of Scene 3 Archives
