TASK 1 - Research
This is a China 3D Projection mapping which consists a lot
of structure projections which looks so real.
Also I liked the idea of the tiny human figure dancing and the building
moving and falling (2:55) which I
compared it to the script part 'the dancing knights'. Part (5:49 - 9:05) are
very realistic especially the seaweed and tortoise, also related it to the
underwater scene from the script. The ending of the projection was amazing
first the waterfall and then fireworks!
This projection mapping was projected by a LD system. It was created for a New Year's Eve event which included video effects and custom animated 3D content, moving lights, fireworks and concert- sized system. From the projections I watched I noticed that a lot of them include underwater! ... (2:05) The countdown and fireworks consisted a lot of colours and abstract designs which I think that the Maltese people would be amazed, we can create abstract designs based more on our Maltese culture and traditions.
Although this has nothing to do with our theme I enjoyed watching it. Also I thought that part which consisted water looked incredible, the water splashes appeared so realistic. Maybe we can create something extra which can be projected near the small fountains facing the Grand Masters building, but I think we don't have enough time. Who knows maybe next year it will be projected in the sea, which I think it would make more sense as we are surrounded by the Mediterranean sea.
This is a projection for H & M in Amsterdam. I personal liked the beginning and ending, 'The ribbon/bow'. Which I think it would be nice to add something similar to our projection, maybe it would look like a Christmas present being unwrapped or wrapped.
A projection wrapping on the Castle of Tata in Hungary. It may not be the best projection I've seen but it look very original. The history part is too long and quite boring but I liked the idea that instead of creating the building with blocks (as usual) they used cranes. Also the ending (4:03 - 4:56) includes various flags which I thought it could give us an idea in our projection especially from (4:32) .. the European flag.
Projection Concept
Group Work - Denise Axiaq, Chiara Attard Portughes, Fabian Meli, Yanika Galea, Luana Galea.
Our concept mainly focused from the past to the present. It starts from the great siege developing by time. In our presentation we presented sketches of the palace developing. We thought that a story book/ pop up book element would look great with our concept 'history'.
We were inspired by two commercials done for JP Morgan.

We want to have similar ideas and elements regarding movement and paper cut out figures.

Blurb Booklet
Chiara and I started sketching and researching different ideas for the editorial booklet. We planed how the booklet would be divided and what each page will consist of. We followed a layout/template from blurb. None of the others helped us. Mr.Camilleri has informed us that the booklet can be finished during the progress week. Although there is still no communication regarding the booklet.
Manifesto
Chiara, Jeanette and I created a presentation including all the research found about manifesto. Bellow you can find the presentation, and the research each member found (captioned in every slide, also you will find the description of my research).
Chiara and I started developing our ideas on our manifesto. We came we with an idea of a survival kit for graphic designers. Together we started sketching out some ideas about the packaging. We were inspired from a 'sketchbook', and thought it would look great if the box resembled a sketchbook.
This survival kit included objects which us the graphic designers use everyday or are related to our design life.
Chiara started by creating some rules/quotes for our manifesto, while Jeanette and I helped her.
Chiara was in charge to cut out the foam while Jeanette and I illustrated the leaflet, objects and more.First I created the objects using Adobe Photoshop brushes, although afterwards we decided to use Adobe Illustrator and keep the design clean. When we finalised the designs, I added a texture in Adobe Photoshop.
One can find these quotes/rules in the leaflet inside the survival kit:
Eraser - Erase It, Less Is More
Pen - Good Ideas Are Permanent
Dice - Take Risks, Challenge Yourself
Graphics Pen - Say Hello To New Brushes
Sharpener - Sharpen You Designs
Pen drive - No Excuses, Back It Up
Chocolate And Music - When You Are Stressed, Eat Chocolate And Listen To Happy Song
Coffee Beans - Work Harder, Stay Up Late
Sketchbook - Think Less, Sketch More
Pantone Colour Swatches - Say Yes To Pantone
2B Pencil - Be Brave Be Bold
Ruler - Rules Are Made To Be Broken, EVEN Grids
I think this was the one of the assignments which I enjoyed doing most. We created a small project which eventually reflects us the graphic designers.
