3D Degree room features: 55” TV monitor, 2 functional air-conditions, 2 entrances/2doors, lack of light (only 4 light tubes available) 2 switches, chairs, tables, white wall needs to be painted again and 21 plugs.
My idea is to rather add an addition to the end of the year projection mapping than to find and alternative. My idea is to add a texture on the building/tower using origami as main concept/theme. A projection mapping on large scaled origami will be a new and innovative concept in Malta and will surely be a success and a step forward. On the other hand it will be very feasible in terms of budget. One can notice the fascinating effect the origami gives when incorporated with the projection mapping in the video and images shown. This projection mapping was created to promote the worldwide brand campaign for ‘Bacardi Togetherness' on the Kursalon building in Vienna. The designers for this impressive project mapping were Darkroom media and were recruited by Stargate Group and Weare4 to help Bacardi to promote their product. This projection mapping was one of the first ever projection mapping shows to be seen in Vienna.
Cuban heritage, the Mojito, Social media and Clubbing were the main themes to be used in this specific projection mapping. An interesting aspect of this particular project mapping in my opinion was the music because it was synchronized with the 3D, 2D and colour effects of the projection mapping. The building has a symmetrical characteristic and it made the 3D mapping more effective with remarkable finishing, layout, texture and composition. I think that if we incorporate the same idea of synchronising the sound with the animation in the end of the year exhibition, it would be much more interesting. This image shows another example of exhibition space created by the Creative Arts University. In my opinion in this exhibition space the use of light is very interesting. The Creative Arts University used two different types of light to create two different shades of light as one can notice by looking at the ceiling of the exhibition space. Furthermore I think that the technique used to exhibit the posters is fascinating but it can be a disadvantage if the exhibition room has a low ceiling. In terms of budget of this particular exhibition space it is very feasible because of the cheap materials used such as recycled metal etc.
This image shows an art & design exhibition at the Ohio Northern Alumni University of art & design. To balance the navigation space and control the flow of the visitors, the exhibition space architect team created various sized white rectangular boxes and placed them in the room. Another interesting feature used in this exhibition space is the remarkable use of light. The exhibition space owners installed various spotlights on to the ceiling of the room and used them to light up the artworks hanging on the wall. In my opinion the use of light featured in this exhibition space can be used in our end of the year exhibition space. Another thing that one can notice is that there is still a lot of navigation space. In terms of budget analysis, the light installation is very expensive. For this exhibition space in London a team called Orproject studios did an installation in the exhibition room using paper origami and various LED lights. In terms of budget the materials used (paper and LEDs), it is cheap and feasible but it is also time consuming. By using this technique the Orproject team created a forest of illuminated paper trees that join up to form a continuous canopy at a gallery in New Delhi. The four trunks branch upwards and outwards from "seed points" on the floor towards "target points" on the ceiling where they join up into a single surface, creating a suspended tensile structure. The installation is made from triangular segments of paper connected via stitched joints and backlit by LEDs. When the LED lights are turned on, the light glows through the gaps and highlights the vein-like structure of the piece. The illuminated “trees” created excellent navigation space.
