Projection Mapping is not very popular in the Maltese Islands, although in other countries, lots of projection mappings have been produced to entertain or advertise something. To make a projection Mapping, lots of thinking is involved, to develop an excellent projection. Projection Mapping is expensive since it includes sophisticated equipment. All of the class was very excited to work this thing together although we had a lot of work to do, in a short time. We were split in different groups to work on each scene separately for the projection. At first we were groups of five or six and together in these groups we came up with different narrative story lines, keeping in mind the main themes; the history of Malta, Maltese traditions, Christmas and New Year.
In the beginning of Task 1, we were in a group of six. In my group we were Lindsay Aquilina, Nicholas Cassar, Andrew Carter, George Spiteri, Steve Sciberras and me. Togeter we did brainstorming and mind maps to make our own storyline for the projection. At this stage we were transforming our ideas to better ones. The first idea we had was to begin with Malta's history and then change to a Christmas theme.
Brainstorming ideas:
· Valletta / V.18
· Christmas
· New Year
· 1565
· Europe
· Maltese lace / tiles
· Fountain

These are some of the first illustrations I did for the story line we created.
The idea of making the Maltese feast ‘Pavaljuni’ hanging down the palace facade was mine. I really liked it and I got the idea from Ralph Lauren projection mapping. If it was chosen it would have given a pleasant effect and it is also a Maltese tradition. George, one of my team colleagues provided this image.
This is the illustration of Saint George I did to be put on the Maltese cross and it was actually used for the final projection.
