The Futurist Manifesto was written in 1909 by Filippo Marinetti, an Italian poet. It was published as newspaper post in Bologna. It discussed artistic philosophy, Futurism and celebrated modernisation.
The Italian Futurists wanted to make Italy noticeable and present in the Futurist revolution that was taking place in the rest of Europe. The Manifesto also discussed other elements like poetry and the importance of history. One of Marinetti's beliefs was that war was a necessity for the human spirit and it benefit 'idealism', as it cleansing properties. Was is glorified very much in this Manifesto. In fact, it is also described as 'hygienic' as some point. This issue influenced the Fascists at a later stage.
